It’s a time when sudden change of season or when the holidays are over and both body and mind are once again adjusting to the daily grind.

While this is known to afflict those, who live North or South of the equator, busybody Australians may also catch this mind-boggling experience. While this does not predominantly cause undue problems to one’s health, it can make one unproductive and moody leaving relationships affected. So, what to do?

  • Listen to energising song. Music is known to improve one’s mood. Studies have always pointed that music can help stimulate the production of feel-good hormone called serotonin and release of dopamine levels to the body. Instead of going for relaxing lullabies, gurgling water sounds, or nostalgic love songs, pop a CD of cheerful and upbeat songs to get you pumping.
  • Go out and have fun. Have a picnic in the bark. Jog a mile in the Gold Coast. Run, bike, or surf. Can’t leave the city due to work commitments? Then, at the very least, have lunch or dinner outside with family or friends. Burnout from work can also generate seasonal depression. Get your own dose of happiness, no matter how simple to prevent this from happening.
  • Stuck in the city? Find a gym and enrol in a fitness class.Unearth your body’s energy hub by engaging in a functional fitness training programme. Let gym sessions feels like showering or eating. Choose at least 2 to 3 days in a week to visit the nearest gym in your Victoria locality. Go for something that’s nearer or on the route to home or work, and open 24 hours! Convenience and ease of access will go a long way when trying to beat this seasonal affliction.
  • Eat healthy and stay hydrated.Keeping a healthy diet goes a long way. If you’re familiar with the adage- you are what you eat– then, you know precisely what it means to eat healthy. Choose fresh fruits and vegetables. Steer clear of sugary, salty and fatty stuffs as these can drag your health down. Most importantly, keep your hydration level in top shape by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day.

Get enough sleep. During long vacations, the body usually have no trouble doing all things and staying out late is but a norm. Getting up to work after that can be quite dragging. The key is to spend at least 2 days in a restive mood before beginning the work grind. Regulate your sleep schedule and catch up as much sleep as you can.
